Noli's week at a glance 7/20-7/25

Well hello Team Nolie Members,

Let's get you all up to speed on little Nolan's week.....
7/20  Monday
Nolan had outpatient chemo (as he does every Monday) and today he had a blood transfusion.
7/21  Tuesday
Noli and Momma went to accupunture w/ Rose, it was a good day.
7/22 Wednesday
very uneventful... (yippee!!!)
7/23 Thursday
Nolan went back to MGH for a blood transfusion, he also was batteling a low grade fever because of his first tooth arriving...  Nicole found out that MGH is having a severe shortage of platelet's.. if you have ever considered donating your blood, think of all the little ones like Noli who need blood transfusions and platelet transfusions often and MGH is having a shortage.  Imagine how scary that must be to think your child might not get it if their isn't any.. scary huh!!!  Today's message from Team Noli is donate your platelets.. donate your blood, many many people need it.  Ok back to happy stuff.. Noli's grumpy but he's now sportin a new smile.. it includes his new tooth!  Pictures to follow don't worry!!!
7/24 Friday
quiet day, still battling the low fever and chewing on everything!!
7/25 Saturday
A full day with Momma and Daddy!!! Life is good.  Lunch w/ Mimi, went for a swing and dippped his cute little piggies in Mimi's pool.  Team Nolie has to keep a low profile these days due to low counts and germie places but Mimi's house (Nicole's Moms house) is a safe haven for them and it's a great change of scenery for all!!  Not to mention the fact that Mimi is an AMAZING COOK!!!!!! YUMMMM!!!!!!

Please check out the Newburyport Five Cent Savings Bank on storey ave this week, they are hosting a book and bake sale for Noli and they have really out done them selves.  We have a few fundraisers in the works so mark your calendars for a golf tournament on Sept. 19 (more info. on tickets to follow soon) we have Jen Runion running in the YHC 10 miler for Nolan she's callin it rollin for Nolan and she's donating all proceeds to our favorite blue eyed cutie pie!  Sue who owns 7 supercuts from Nbpt. to Amesbury is gracious enough to post the Nolan M Smith fund info. at all her businesses...Glow in Amesbury is hosting a sell your gold party w/ proceeds going to The Nolan M.Smith Fund (again I'll pop the date on here as soon as I get it!!!  We have a flatbread fundraiser in Oct. in the works.....  Striper's in Salisbury is keeping up Nolan's Fund info. all summer long which is so very cool!  All the particulars about all the event's I will post as soon as I get them finalized.  I just got off the phone with Nicloe and her and Mike just enjoyed a home made smore and are enjoying a quiet night while Noli sleeps... good night Team Noli followers  we love and appreciate each and every one of you!

round 2 of chemo.. message from Nicole

Nicole Wanyo Smith July 14 at 4:07pm
Well, here we are again, our home in the city. The 17th floor of MGH has become like a second home to us.(Unfortunately) Nols started his 2nd round of chemotherapy yesterday and so far so good. The drugs that help fight the tumor are administered at night while Nol is dreaming of better things. We have been told that there are always side effects to each drug so this morning a battery of tests are given to make sure the chemo isn't damaging his hearing. Next, an echocardiogram is done to monitor the impact that the other tumor has on his heart. The whole time Nolan is glued to his favorite video on tv. Gotta love Baby Einstein!!! Next up... Food. Trying to find something appetitizing for the little prince is not easy. Maybe he will feel like eating tomorrow. After a nap and sponge bath we wait for physical therapy to begin. WE NEED TO START CRAWLING!!! These are just some of the activities that fill our day while we are here. I can't help but think of all the summertime fun other kids his age are having while cancer leaves Nolan stuck inside. I look forward to the day when Nolan can live the life of a normal little boy.
